Electric bike tours have transformed what’s possible on a multi-day cycling holiday, opening up longer distances to a far wider mix of riders. E-bikes have made journeys that once felt daunting much more manageable, without losing the joy of travelling through landscapes on two wheels and immersing yourself in the towns and cultures you encounter along the way.

At Epic Road Rides, we haven’t ridden every single route featured here – but we do have first-hand experience with every operator on this list. We’ve travelled with some of them and worked with all of them, picking their guides’ brains about the destinations and routes to help us narrow down our selection of the best electric bike tours.

Each electric bike tour we’ve listed ticks the boxes of being thoughtfully designed and well-supported. They cover a range of locations, from the classic cycling destination of the Netherlands to the road less ridden adventure that is cycling in Ho Chi Minh! But regardless of location, these e-bike tours prioritise great riding, memorable places and smooth logistics.

While this isn’t a definitive list of the world’s best rides, it is a carefully curated snapshot of five outstanding electric bike tours we’ve either enjoyed or that we have on our personal to-do list. So if you’re planning an e-bike holiday, this list is a strong place to start!

We’ve worked with all of the bike tour operators featured in this article over the years (there are links to our interviews with them in the relevant section). We have chosen to include them in this article because the cycling holiday experiences they offer are ones we’d suggest to a friend, or book ourselves, if we were wanting to take on an electric bike tour.

The riding

This Amsterdam to Bruges e-bike tour follows one of Europe’s most enjoyable long-distance cycle routes. You ride almost entirely on high-quality, traffic-free bike paths, linking canal towpaths, rivers and quiet countryside from the Netherlands into Belgium. Daily distances range from around 40 to 70 kilometres, making it ideal for relaxed, multi-day riding with electric assistance.

Highlights include Kinderdijk’s historic windmills, ferry crossings in Zeeland, and the medieval streets of towns such as Gouda, Dordrecht and Damme. The terrain is flat throughout, with bridges and waterways shaping the route rather than hills. It is a linear journey that feels calm, scenic and wonderful to ride.

What we love

We love how effortless this journey feels on an e-bike. By design, the route sets you up for stress-free riding so you can focus on enjoying the landscapes, towns and cafés rather than navigation or traffic.

It is also a brilliant introduction to cycling in the Netherlands and Belgium. With superb cycling infrastructure, well-signed paths and short daily riding stages, this e-bike tour will have even those new to multi-day cycling tours feeling confident. Finishing in Bruges feels special too, with a gradual transition from Dutch waterways to Flemish history and architecture.

What else they offer

Dutch Bike Tours specialises in self-guided cycling holiday options across the Netherlands and beyond, with more than 50 carefully designed routes. Their portfolio includes linear journeys, round trips and centre-based tours, ranging from city-focused routes to coastal rides and cultural cycling itineraries.

Trips are well supported with luggage transfers, detailed route packs, GPS directions, and optional bike or e-bike hire. There are also family-friendly options and more challenging routes, giving plenty of choice for different riding styles and experience levels.

2. Provence to Camargue with Boat Bike Tours

The riding

This eight-day e-bike and boat tour links the gentle lanes of Provence with the wide, watery landscapes of the Camargue. You begin in the fortified town of Aigues-Mortes, then ride towards Arles and the Rhône Valley. Daily rides are typically 30 to 60 kilometres, with a guide and plenty of stops built in.

Expect quiet roads, riverside paths and easy-going terrain, with the option to take a shorter or longer ride on some days. The barge travels alongside you, so there is no packing and unpacking each night. Highlights include Arles, the Camargue’s wetlands and the Roman aqueduct of the Pont du Gard.

What we love

We love the pace. Riding during the day and returning to the same floating base each afternoon makes this feel restful as well as active.
The landscapes also change beautifully across the week. One day you are pedalling through vineyards and orchards. The next you are in open wetlands with big skies and wildlife.

It suits mixed-ability groups too. Everyone rides an e-bike, there are two guides, and you can choose your pace. If you want a day off the bike, you can stay on board and still enjoy the journey.

What else they offer

Boat Bike Tours runs a huge range of multi-day bike and boat holidays across Europe and beyond, with routes in 19 countries. Alongside classics in the Netherlands, Belgium, France and Italy, they also offer tours further afield in destinations such as Egypt, India and Vietnam.

They welcome more than 25,000 guests each year and focus on small-group travel, using a fleet of characterful ships ranging from compact barges to larger vessels. Trips are guided but flexible, with comfortable en-suite cabins now standard across the collection.

The riding

This self-guided e-bike tour from Pisa to Florence is all about making gentle yet rewarding progress through the heart of Tuscany. You follow quiet back roads, riverside paths and rural lanes, linking art cities with smaller towns such as Lucca, Pistoia and Vinci. Daily distances are manageable, with mostly flat terrain broken up by a few rolling sections as you move inland. Electric bikes are optional, but Girolibero say that most guests opt for one. This tour is available as either an eight-day or a five-day itinerary, depending on how much time you’d like to spend on the bike each day.

Electric assistance smooths out the warmer days and gentle climbs, while optional train links allow you to shorten stages if needed. It is a point-to-point ride that encourages lingering stops, long lunches and time to explore, rather than chasing distance or elevation. If you’re the kind of rider who plans stops around local cuisine, this is ideal for you.

What we love

We love how balanced this route feels. You get world-famous cities at either end, but most days are spent in the quieter spaces between them.

Girolibero’s version works especially well as an e-bike tour. It keeps the riding accessible while still feeling rewarding, and the logistics fade into the background. Hotels are well placed, navigation is clear, and support is close at hand. It makes Tuscany feel welcoming rather than overwhelming, even on a first cycling holiday in Italy.

What else they offer

Girolibero offers a broad range of self-guided cycling holidays across Tuscany, with several variations on the Pisa to Florence route alongside tours linking Pisa, Siena and Florence. There are also shorter point-to-point trips for riders with less time.

Beyond Tuscany, they also offer cycling tours across Italy, including Puglia, Umbrian countryside, Piedmont, Veneto, South Tyrol and the Dolomites. Girolibero also run carefully planned cycling holidays in France, including routes in the Loire Valley, and Croatia.

Cycling the Danube by e-bike and boat is one of Europe’s great easy-going multi-day rides. On this guided tour, you follow the famous Danube Cycle Path, riding mostly on flat, traffic-free riverside paths with short sections on quiet roads. Daily distances are typically between 30-55 kilometres, making it achievable for a wide range of abilities.

The route links Germany, Austria, Slovakia and Hungary, with standout riding through the Wachau Valley, vineyard-lined riverbanks and open countryside. Cultural highlights are woven straight into the journey, with time to explore Vienna, Bratislava and Budapest. Each afternoon you’ll board the ship, which moves ahead overnight while you sleep.

What we love

We love how much variety this tour packs in without ever feeling rushed. One day you’re cycling through peaceful vineyards, the next you’re riding straight into a European capital.

The bike-and-boat format works perfectly here. Flat terrain, excellent cycle paths and the option to stay on board if you need a rest make it genuinely inclusive. The riding

This is Vietnam on an epic scale: a north-to-south journey that swaps “whistle-stop” travel for the perfect pace to truly immerse yourself in everything this bike route has to offer. You can even swap your bike for a boat to explore nearby islands!

This e-bike tour brings real variety. Expect a mix of easy rural lanes through rice paddies, lively city riding in places like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, and bigger days that include standout climbs such as the Hai Van Pass and the highland route towards Da Lat.
