Bike hotels in northern Spain

Costa Brava

There are many reasons why Girona is considered to be the cycling capital of Europe. Hotel Mas Pelegri

Hotel Mas Pelegri is a three-star country hotel that’s around 30 km from Girona. Costa Daurada

The Costa Daurada region, and in particular the area around Salou and Cambrils, has long been popular for family holidays. As a cycling destination, the area is only recently emerging. While professional teams have trained here, it tends to be a quieter choice for a Spanish cycling tour. Don’t overlook it – the coastal roads and hilly climbs are beautiful.

Flexible meal times are offered for those wanting to set off early, and picnics can be prepared. A selection of organised routes are offered across multiple difficulties if you need some inspiration.

Hotel Zubieta

Hotel Zubieta is a three-star hotel, housed in an 18th-century building located just south of Lekeitio. The position is excellent – you can easily wander into town to enjoy some fine dining, but you don’t have to navigate many busy streets before you’re out exploring the Basque region on your bike.

While the hotel is small, that doesn’t mean it’s lacking in terms of services for cyclists. There’s a storage area for your bikes, and a small repair shop and a bike washing service. Luggage transport is available and you can enjoy free WiFi so you can stay up to date on weather forecasts, and map out your routes.

  • We love: The location, close to the quaint town centre but with amazing routes on the doorstep.
  • Be aware: It’s a smaller hotel, so not suited to larger travelling groups if you’re all bringing bikes.
