Cycling hotels in central Calpe

Staying in the centre of Calpe means you can enjoy some great hotels that offer a wide range of facilities both for relaxing and for storing/caring for your bike. It’s best to stay centrally if you want a wider choice of places to eat or things to do at the end of your day’s ride. There’s also the spectacular beach, which could well be a big draw if you’re with non-cyclists!

However, be aware that you’ll inevitably have to cycle the coastal roads, which are busy with traffic.

Here’s our choice of the best cycling hotels in Calpe.

1. Gran Hotel Sol y Mar

Gran Hotel Sol y Mar is a stunning, adults-only four-star Calpe hotel with an excellent beachfront location. Rooms are beautifully appointed, there are two restaurants and two bars where you can unwind. The infinity pool is stunning. It’s one of the best hotels Calpe has to offer, full stop.

It’s also an extremely popular hotel with cyclists. The bike storage facility is more than a locked room – it has everything you need to repair and wash your bikes as well as store them safely. A laundry area has washing machines and dryers for your gear, while the opulent spa offers a wide range of relaxing treatments and sports massages.

  • We love: The excellent facilities for cyclists.
  • Be aware: This is an adults-only (16+) hotel, and not suited to young families.
  • Best for: Having everything you need for a cycling holiday on-site, in an excellent location.

2. Suitopia – Sol y Mar Suites Hotel

Suitopia – Sol y Mar Suites Hotel in the city centre of Calpe is a beautiful four-star hotel that’s packed with facilities, including a luxury spa, outdoor swimming pool that’s open year-round and a children’s playground.

In terms of Calpe cycling hotels, it’s a good choice – the hotel has laundry services and a bike storage facility with a washroom. Bike maintenance services are available between January and June. It’s popular with a number of cycling teams and event organisers due to its contemporary facilities and location.

  • We love: The option for guided cycling tours, if you want to be shown the best areas.
  • Be aware: It’s very popular with families and so expect a lot of children running around.
  • Best for: A modern hotel base for cycling training or exploring the stunning countryside.

3. AR Diamante Beach Spa Hotel

AR Diamante Beach Spa Hotel is just 200 yards from Levante Beach, and is a fantastic four-star luxury hotel with a huge range of facilities. There are various sports facilities, a buffet restaurant with poolside terrace, and every room has its own balcony.

It’s really popular as a training base for pro cycling teams – there’s a storage area with washing facilities and a workshop for repairs, while bike rental and airport transfers can be arranged. The hotel also has direct access to the seafront and the road so you can easily cycle straight from the hotel itself. It even has additional parking space suitable for equipment trucks.

  • We love: The high-quality facilities, including a beautiful spa.
  • Be aware: The bike storage is only free if you make a group booking for 10 rooms or more (though the hotel may let you keep your bike in your room).
  • Best for: Cyclists who want every essential on-hand.

Cycling hotels near Calpe

While Calpe is very different from the nearby resort of Benidorm, it’s still a popular and bustling location. Staying near the town, instead of looking for Calpe hotels in the heart of everything, means you’ve got easy access to the stunning beaches, but can enjoy a more peaceful escape, great if you’re planning some longer rides and want to be sure of a good night’s sleep.

4. Hotel Cap Negret, Altea

Hotel Cap Negret is in a quiet location just a short distance from Altea and around a 30-minute bike ride from Calpe. Rooms in this four-star hotel are modern and simply furnished, making them comfortable if not overly luxurious.

There’s great bike storage available on-site including private boxes for groups, along with pressure washers and full laundry facilities for your gear. The hotel is well placed for road and mountain biking routes and it has a massage room.

  • We love: The variety of routes available from Altea.
  • Be aware: The hotel is on the beach front but it is a pebble beach.
  • Best for: Being in a quieter location but within easy reach of the best scenery.

5. Hotel Les Rotes, Denia

Hotel Les Rotes is a four-star Denia cycling hotel situated in the Montgo Nature Reserve. The facilities are luxurious, with spacious bedrooms, a contemporary sun terrace with comfy loungers, and a Mediterranean restaurant serving seasonal cuisine.

The hotel offers bike storage as well as bike rental, but otherwise facilities for cyclists are relatively limited, though you can get laundry done if you ask the staff. The trade off is that the location is outstanding with some great scenery to explore when you do hit the road.

  • We love: The modern facilities throughout the hotel.
  • Be aware: There aren’t any specialist cleaning or repair facilities for bikes.
  • Best for: Anyone who wants to combine their cycling break with time spent relaxing and enjoying the hotel.

  • We love: The range of facilities and tours offered for cyclists.
  • Be aware: Reviews of the food are mixed.
  • Best for: Taking in some glorious scenery with a mix of biking routes on the doorstep.

7. Cases Noves, El Castell de Guadalest

Cases Noves is a beautiful country house with rustic charm – expect exposed wooden beams and original stone walls. The rooms are tastefully appointed with modern soft furnishings, giving this four-star hotel a real boutique feel.

It’s popular with cyclists due to being on the beautiful Guadelest and Vall D’Ebo loop, one of our top rides on the Costa Blanca. Smooth roads and glorious scenery make for a fantastic 138km loop, while the hotel is a peaceful retreat where you can recover at the end of the day.

  • We love: The peaceful atmosphere of this adults-only hotel.
  • Be aware: There isn’t any dedicated bike storage – we understand you can keep bikes on the terrace and move them into the hotel at night.
  • Best for: Couples who want a relaxing break with stunning scenery to explore.
