Social Media and Community Manager

We are looking for a confident communicator to help develop our social media channels, grow our online community and assist our small, busy team.

The ideal person for this role will understand (and love!) the world of cycling and have a good knowledge of social media platforms.

This is a full time, fully remote role.

About Epic Road Rides

This is a unique opportunity to join Epic Road Rides and help evolve our mission to be the go-to site for cyclists that want to travel.

Epic Road Rides is renowned for its in-depth, inspirational yet practical content on cycling destinations around the world. We cover 100+ regions, from the Surrey Hills to the Seychelles, and are ambitious to cover many more. Having achieved strong growth over the last six years, this is an exciting time.

The role

You’ll grow Epic Road Rides’ off-site presence and raise our brand awareness by planning and delivering compelling content on social media and other platforms.

The focus will be on growing our online community and increasing engagement by evolving our existing platforms and reaching new platforms and people.

We want you to lead on this area, with support from our Founder and Content Manager. This is a new role for us and we want you to bring your ideas and passion to it.

You will also provide essential day-to-day support to the wider team. This includes assisting with a range of weekly tasks, including photo editing, web editing and admin tasks. It’s a chance to get stuck into many areas of the business!

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain and develop our community on social media
  • Develop our presence and community on relevant forums and in third party media
  • Support the team with administrative tasks and projects

The role will include:

  • Confident communication on the topics of cycling and travel
  • Generating digital assets for social media platforms and website, for example social media shareables, reels and infographics
  • Staying up to date with and utilising the latest social media trends and platform specific best practices
  • Bringing fresh creative ideas while maintaining a consistent brand voice
  • Managing our photo and video content library and assisting with photo editing for web articles
  • Data analysis and reporting on social media and website performance
  • Providing support to team members on content and business focused administrative tasks and projects

Key skills and experience

  • Passionate about cycling and travel; you cycle regularly, have ridden your bike abroad and are happy to confidently discuss cycling holidays with cyclists with a range of interests and perspectives
  • Experience managing social media channels and communities (personal or business)
  • Technologically savvy and keen to embrace new software and systems
  • Love content generation, including video editing, photo editing and graphic creation, but are keen to run a data driven strategy that drives performance
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including grammar and attention to detail; you’ll be representing the brand and regularly reaching out to and communicating with our readers, PR and marketing execs, industry insiders and others
  • Reliable and committed; you like to get stuck in and are down-to earth with an enthusiastic, proactive, can-do attitude
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a small, busy team; it’s important you have strong organisation skills and are comfortable working at pace
  • Creative mindset with ability to develop and implement new ideas

We are also ideally looking for someone who has experience of:

  • Working with clients or external partners
  • Tackling administrative tasks accurately and effectively
