Luxembourg may be one of Europe’s smallest countries but cycling in Luxembourg is taken seriously.

It has a national network of 600 kilometres of cycling routes over 23 different routes and plans to expand to 1,400 kilometres in the coming years. In 2022, it had the highest per capita GDP of any country in the world – so plenty of funds to invest in cycling infrastructure!

Luxembourg also has a strong history of turning out fantastic cyclists. Past heroes have included Nicholas Frantz (Tour de France winner in 1927 and 1928) and Charly Gaul (nicknamed Angel of the Mountains in the 1958 Tour de France). In more recent years, names like Schleck, Kirchen and Jungles have been a big force in the pro cycling scene.

We were delighted to speak with Frank and Martine Schleck about their ever-popular Schleck Gran Fondo and hope to create more content to help you plan cycling holidays in Luxembourg in the near future.
